Date: 2008-03-02 06:36 am (UTC)I think it would completely depend on the quality of the ingredients. Use truly excellent applewood smoked bacon, and a nice flavorful (grade B!) maple syrup and I think it could work.
But consider a maplele infused vodka and use the bacon instead of olives. Or, even better, use a light maple instead of vermouth, and an appropriately aromatic Genever instead of gin or vodka. Sansho? Work with me here...

As I've tried more bacon flavored stuff, I realize much of what I enjoy is the texture/taste combo.
