So, a little backstory. I'm allergic to poison ivy, and I don't mean like you are, I mean I have to go to a hospital and get IV steroids and antihystamins before my throat swells up and breathing gets difficult. Mark has loads of allergies, but none are as severe as that except for shellfish, and that's easily avoidable. Unfortunately Alyssa seems to be taking after me and in a worse way. Tiny dot yesterday, we give her loads of benadryl, and she swells just a little. This morning she was ballooned up, face unrecognisable, looked bruised as well, and she couldn't swallow the meds. Dr. wanted to admit her for observation, but the steroids started to take affect and the swelling went down and now we just have to watch her. She's on steroids for this, and this is the second time this month. Dunno what to do,she seems to be getting this from contact with others 'cause she is well trained in what it looks like and avoids it wholheartedly. We know the bit from earlier this month was from sitting on a bench after someone who had it, but this time we don't know. Crap, I don't like this, and guess I have to find a pediatric allergist or something.

is there something that can be carried around, like for people who are super-allergic to bee stings, that will help an outbreak if she isn't around a parental figure or out in the wilds somewhere not near a hospital?

[livejournal.com profile] gosling has a similarly bad PI allergy, and was prescribed an Epi-Pen for it.

Any time she gets a bit of it, wash her shoes and mouse pad/wrist rest along with her clothes and bedding.

Man, poor kid, I hope she's getting better. Let me know if you need anything. (Kid sitting Adira if Alyssa has to be admitted...)
