I didn't see this coming

Did anyone else see This coming? I thought I was pretty current, but this came out of no where. Really cool, especially since it's not a coastal state

Yay Iowa

Whoa! I'd had no idea that was even being considered. Go Iowa!

Remember this is the first state to vote for Obama. Iowa's always been pretty liberal, and it's got an influx of folks from the coasts due to an unexpected windfall in Des Moines.

I've been reminding people that Iowa has a long progressive history. Remember they elected Tom Harkin back in 1985, which is Reagan era.

As for the decision, I remember the 1987 case and that it had appealed but did not realize it had been heard nor that a judgment was imminent.

Andrew Sullivan mentioned it a week or two ago, but I had heard nothing before that. Good stuff.

It's a court decision, not a legislative one. Lots of things can happen... :/

Nonetheless, it's unexpected and utterly heartening, even to someone like me that it would never in a million years affect personally.

I had no idea it was even being considered...

This is great to see.

Its so wonderful when you can be happily blindsided by good news. When I heard it prompted me to say a phrase I never thought I'd say "Yay Iowa". Who'd have thought?
