I don't know what the context is here, but when I was living in GA, BC Powders were basically a powdered analgesic that was quite popular, esp. with native southerners & people of A Certain Age. IIRC, most people mix it in water or juice and chug it down, but I heard tell a tale from a Boston-area musician who got to work w/Don Dixon* who said that Don used to just pop his down dry--in fact, the only things this guy remembered seeing Don consuming during the recording sessions were bourbon & BC Powder. :-)

*Singer/songwriter/producer, perhaps best known for co-producing first 3 R.E.M. releases w/Mitch Easter; and my only actual official CD photo credit to date.
