I believe he is referring to the accuracy and veracity of the kitchens.I've never seen a movie get a kitchen right,and wasn't going to go see it because I couldn't take another BS rstaurant movie
I'm really not surprised that Tony feels that way. The bit with the girl cook and the knives alone was worth it for me. Plus she rides a motorcycle. I think you'll love it.
I saw it with my kids today and I totally thought of you, Tamar, when the girl in the kitchen was ranting about what it took for her to be where she is. Enjoyed it a lot (but I'm not a foodie or a cook)!
I would probably not call it the best "food movie" ever made when there are so many other worthy contenders (Tampopo, Babette's Feast, Eat Drink Man Woman). But like you said, Tony really seems to mean that it's the best kitchen movie ever made, and in that he may well be right.
It was absolutely a fantastic movie and worth seeing for sure. :-)
