First [livejournal.com profile] pir and [livejournal.com profile] kimberlogic get me thinking about texmex food, which is unobtainable out here, and then I find out I've run out of Marmite, and then while trying to remember which grocery store has Marmite I wonder in my head if I can find one that also has dark chocolate hobnobs. Sadly, all these craving will end in disappointment since it looks like a pizza night for those in this household holding down their food.

You know there used to be passable tex mex in
Leominster at the Searstown Mall. It used to be in a space in the mall complex but separate from the mail building.

My family used to regard it as an enourmous treat
to get their 'ultimate nachos' which are piled
with everything known to manking.

I thought they were delicious at the time anyway.

Dunno if the place is still there but it's worth
a shot :)

I miss certain things about that area tremendously
though. Take a nice walk in the woods around your
house and think of me sometime ;)

What's a dark chocolate hobnob when it's at home?

Both Wild Oats and the Super Stop & Shop near me have Marmite.

And if you want to come visit, there's a Tex-Mex place in Southington called El Sombrero which has received enthusiastic approval from our transplanted Texan sweetie.

Hobnobs are a british cookie that are kinda oatmealy, and the dark chocolate ones have dark chocolate on them. They're just basic cookies, but addictive.

I'll keep an eye out for this stuff..

I frequently see Marmite in the various "world foods" sections of the Shaws around here (mmmmm were I not doing low carb, one of my fave snacks is still marmite on wheat toast with a bit of butter.... yum)

I'll also keep an eye out for the dark chocolate hobnobs. I hear there is a somewhat new British foods store that opened up around her (i.e. the wilds of northern suburbia). With one coworker from Scotland, and one who is a certified anglophile (I think he might have been born in England, come to think of it), they both always have some huge stash of UK foods at their desks. I'll ask about the store and pass along the info.

(I work in Westford, btw... and I think the anglophile coworker lives in Billerica)
