And now, the fruitcakes

and I don't want to hear any crap about doorstop fruitcakes that are passed around year after year. A good fruitcake is a thing of beauty, soaked in whiskey, of mixed dried fruit. Y'all have just had bad fruit cake, made with that horrible technicolored fruit, neon green pineapple and atomic red cherries. it is a task in my life to convert the fruitcake haters, to show them the way. My mother actually held my fruit cake hostage one year to get her designer to deliver a sofa he owed her. He'ld had some the year before and was converted.
However, this means I have to get them made by October, and that means starting to make the candied orange,lemon and grapefruit peel now. Time to make the husband and kids start eating the citrus.
