Not happy to hear Tony Bourdain and the No Reservations crew are supposedly in Beirut right now trying to get out. Dunno if this is true, but it's popping up around the net.
"Thanks for the good thoughts and well wishes. We are all of us (Diane, Jerry, Toddles, Tracey and me) in good health, good spirits and working ferociously on our tans and sipping blender drinks while watching the fireworks from a secure location. Our masters at Travel Channel have made sure we are being well looked after. Though I'm not sure the 'gold-plated, monkey-navigated rocket-sled' I requested as an exfiltration vehicle will be laid on imminently...we have nothing to complain about."
Good to hear he's doing fine.
Personally, I'm hoping Beirut is okay, too. It's a great food town, and a fun place to visit, in quieter times.
A friend of mine runs egullet and we heard about this a couple of days ago. I'm not finding the message but he was basically running through all the different ways there were to leave the country that were no longer possible.
