when you want to make jam.
Went strawberry picking with the girls, bridgetminerva and aileenmuira,picked 8 qts.

Made 13 jars of nosugar strawberry
4 ice cream preps

(1 pt sliced berries and 1/3 cup sugar, macerate in baggie, then freeze,save to make ice cream when berries not inseason), and still have enough leftover to make a strawberry rhubarb pie and let the girls munch on fresh berries. Really yummyberries, but man it was hot out there.

Jealous. Where'd you go picking and what were the prices like? I want to go get berries so I can make jam and pie filling and ice cream!

We always go to Parlee Farms (http://www.parleefarm.com/). The goats in the sky and other animals give the kids something to do when they don't want to pick anymore(strawberries are harder thanblueberries to pick). We get blueberries, strawberries and raspberries there. Their blueberries,especially, are amazing. The prices are pretty low, can't remember the per#, but it was 20$ for 9 qts after they were weighed.
