and we still have some people hanging out. 3 Turkeys, one large ham, loads of food, and a keg, well, a small keg.Lovely to see everyone, and it was great how many people got into the spirit of things. Damn, velveeta fudge should not be tasty, and deep fried turkey is disturbingly yummy. Pity the oil darkened too much to do the twinkies. I prepped way too many waffle fries which will be turned into mashed potatoes this week. The house isn't too much of a disaster, the girls and I are home this week for vacation. I'm tired, but still wound up.

It really was a fabulous party (see my post where I praised you to the skies).

You were going to fry the TWINKIES??

Damn, I knew we left too early.

Yeah, what she said. And the dress-up was equally disturbing.

That was an excellent party! The turkeys were all delicious, and the waffle fries were turkey-flavored crack. It's Maillard Reactions that brown baked items like cookies, what's the name for the chemical reactions that brown meats? My favorite part of roast turkey has always been the dark meat and crispy bits, and the fried turkeys had way more crispy bits than a normal roast one would. Damn, were they good! ::drifts into pleasant food memories::

It's actually not that hard to do, but next time I won't be doing it in 20d weather, fricking freezing out there.

Thanks for having us. We had a great time. Sorry we could only stay for a little bit, we had to get home to the babysitter.

Yes, the Velveeta fudge was disturbingly good. And that White Trash party mix? I have another bag of it at home, and that is some bloody addictive crack. Exercise caution. :)

i'm so sorry i didn't make it out there. i ended up spending too much of the evening attempting to cough up my spleen.

i had planned on bringing "jim's cheesey sausage balls", recipe is as follows:
combine approximately equal amounts by weight:
  • 1 part browned sausage (jimmy dean tube-o-sausage or similar)
  • 1 part shredded cheese (i used cheddar)
  • 1 part balls bisquick dry mix.

mix together till it's a big tacky mix, then make into 1" balls and bake at 350 for about 30 minutes or till they look golden brown.

cool and eat.

Oh, and I meant to thank you again for the silk blouse. It's perfect for me to wear to work when the weather gets BETTER.

I know that you're not at the Mill this week; next week I have jury duty on Monday which could possibly put monkey wrenches in the earlier parts of the week. How do Thursday 3/2 or Friday 3/4 look to you? Friday would work best for me...
