Penskey's is a much better truck rental company than Uhaul. Clean well maintained truck, curteous employees and 1/2 the retal cost. Even the web site was easy to negotiate.
Yup, quoted 390$ from Uhaul and Penske cost 188$ after the 10% web discount, with free mileage, for 24hours(plus tax and enviromentl fees) and the Uhaul site was atrocious to boot.
Yeah, I've always rented Penske when I can. UMaul & Ryder should be avoided at all costs. They do absolutely no fleet maintenance until the trucks break down under their customer's asses.
Ryder sucks nation-wide. I'd booked a moving van months in advance and when I got there on Moving Day they didn't have it. And they just shrugged and said, "it's not our problem". I ranted and made a major fuss and the guy finally suggested that we try another Ryder branch across town. He called over there for us to make sure there was an available van, but couldn't (or wouldn't) reserve it for us. We ended up dashing across town to get the van before anyone else did. Luckily, it all worked out. But GRRR.
