to me. There's something to be said that maybe I don't like my birthday because it usually starts with my annual call from my dad. Add to that the summer cold I've got percolating, and it's not an auspicious start. I used to hate my birthday because people died on it, or I had exams on it(end of school year) or my parents forgot it.Now my husband lames on me and uses money problems as a reason to not buy me a present, my mother solves her negligence by sending me a check, and sometimes I just want a box with a bow and wrapping to shred and some kind of surprise in it. But that never happens. The only time my husband gets his act together is when kimberlogic lights a bonfire under him. Well, I guess this is my annual whine, interestingly it almost never focuses on getting older. This lj stuff does give me a forum for it for the first time, but that might not be a good thing, as I hate appearing whiny. Well, I'm off to see fast cars and gratuitous hot bods in a nice movie theater with my very own bag of popcorn, maybe when I get back I'll be more chipper.

I understand. I have much the same reaction to my birthday. This year I decided to take a page from your Zen book about getting older and decided I'm too old to be bugged by this shit anymore and that I wanted to have a GREAT day. I was sick, it RAINED all weekend, however things worked out that it was a really good day for me. I hope you enjoy your movie.

What a bummer!! Tell Mark that breakfast in bed, a day of pampering, and a big box of "IOU" certificates (wrapped with a big red bow, of course) are all free. :)
