called LP's

Does anyone have any 45's and 33's they could give me, maybe trade for peach jam. Understand, they will never be played again, so nothing that would be a loss to mankind please. A little Barry Manilow or Englbert Humperdink would do. I'm making bowls out of them for Mark's B-day party. I need about 5 of each

I've got a Laurie Anderson LP that I don't think anyone will want (your sweetie owns it already). It's yours.

In addition, I'll be bringing his Spike Jones LP (he knows he's getting it already). Rar.

You might find a couple at a thrift shop or yard sale for pretty cheap. Or does your local dump/ trash collection/recycling place have a swap shop like place? I know sometimes they have places where you can drop stuff for give away or take away as the case may be.

We will most likely be there.

They still axist, some real die hard audiophiles swear by them, new ones even coming out and no DJ worse his salt could work without them. I still have several thousands of them on hand, and even sell them on my web site. Believe it or not, I have custoemrs for them once in a while. Can;t think of even one I could do without....

I was just in a record store on JFK St in Harvard Sq where they have brown-paper-wrapped packages: 5 CDs for $1, 4 videos for $1, and [I didn't count how many] LPs for $1. *sigh* if you'd posted a few hours earlier I would've picked one up for you *rolleyes*

What a great idea! How will you melt them?

I have a few of both kinds I would be willing to donate. We just need to figure out when/how to transport them, should you need them.

We have a bunch of moribund 33s, but no 45s.

The library I work in has a closet full of several thousand 33s waiting for a dumpster. If you come by during my office hours, you can take as many as you can carry. If office hours don't cut it, I could take a stack home and leave them on the porch or something.

Whoa. Motherlode. Ok, I grabbed a bunch of 33s, things ranging from Yugoslavian folk songs (I shit you not, and what the hell is a tambouritza anyway?) to "More Hawaii in HiFi." I have a strong hunch that these need to die, particularly the latter.

I also turned up some old spoken-word 45s, and a set of 78s. Two of the 78s are red see-thru plastic and absolutely scream to become an art project.

I'll leave them on our front porch in plastic bags for you. Enjoy!

Google knows all:

It's a Croatian relative of the mandolin, apparently.
