Adira accidently broke Alyssa's arm today by jumping on her on the sofa. Simple break, it'll be fine, but damn.

OMG! Poor kids, both of them! Adira must feel awful. I hope Alyssa heals up fast and with a minimum of pain.

Holy crap. Glad it's a simple break. Did Alyssa at least get to pick out a cool color for her cast? Adira must feel awful.

Ow ow ow ow ow.

My little brother broke his arm without any help from me. I always felt that I was somehow falling down on my big-brotherly duties. :)

When my sister and I were younger (big age difference), we were playing one of those silly games, something like peek-a-boo above/below a table, and she caught her upper row of teeth on the table on her way down. Knocked out one, bent another badly, lots of gum damage, nasty ER visit. She was already going to need braces, but I made things worse.

I got over the guilt eventually. Well, mostly.

She swears she was never mad at me. Well, mostly.

OK, I'll knock it off. All humor aside, my sister and I are both fine about it, and joke about it whenever it comes up - rather like how I just did in this comment. I hope Alyssa heals quickly and with minimal pain, and I hope that Adira feels better about it soon. You can tell them both this story if it helps.

[livejournal.com profile] juseppi has a similar story about his missing tooth. However, I wouldn't mention it to him in front of the girls - [livejournal.com profile] juseppi takes far too much glee in picking on his brother about it. ;-)

hugs to you all.. hope all are doing OK.

Never had any broken bones myself, but my sister broke her ankle jumping off the porch one night during a great game of chase (hide and seek with all the lights off... no adults around), when my parents were at an out-of-town party... needless to say, they had to come home. I think we were in jr/high school, should've known better, but we didn't.

Yipes.

Anything I can do? Maybe bring by some books that Alyssa might not have read?

Ow! What a complete bucket of suck for all parties concerned. :-(

My siblings and I survived to adulthood without inflicting any serious injuries on each other. I'm kind of surprised by this.

Er, that is, I'm surprised by our lack of injuries, not Alyssa's injury. :-)

Poor Alyssa. How long will she be in the cast? Does this mean another summer of not swimming for her? Poor kid.

Sympathy!

(Funny, I've broken innumerable bones at this point, but I did all of 'em all by my lonesome...)

The sages say "children just do that" but it's always traumatic when it happens to your kids. I'm glad to see you're already back from
the hospital with the cast. Mantra: Kids heal quickly.

Damn right, damn! But being an only child is no protection. I do recall an encounter between one 3 years old and the sharp edge of a glass table... scared the living day light out of me....

Eek! I hope Alyssa's arm heals quickly and cleanly, and that there's less rough roughhousing in the future!
