I know when I wsan't living alone, there was always that constant friction between the job wanting to keep me there in my every waking moment, and my personal life and the people that inhabited it drawing me home.
Not an easy balancing act to perform, both for you and him.
The good news is that there's a chance things are looking up economy wise, so if this job is abusing the crap out of him he'll have other options soon with any luck.
