[livejournal.com profile] charleshaynes has always invoked great envy in me by being able to go to the restaurants I dream about. He is also one of the most informed people I know when it comes to food. I rate his knowledge much higher than my own.He is a person who is not a foodie, but is a true gourmand. When he posted that he had an opening in a table of 8 at what is widely considered to be the best restaurant in the world I responded that he was a lucky bastard. What followed blew me away. My friends jumped up to offer frequent flyer miles to get me there. Oh, did I mention the restaurant is in Spain? Alex and Bridget jumped first, and a few others have volunteered since. Charles got me the spot, and we're making plans now for me to, honest to God, fly to Spain for dinner. I don't care if I have to sleep on a park bench, this is something that I can't even begin to explain how important it is to me.

Here is a review and an explanation of what El Bulli is.

My friends are truly amazing

I see. May be I should get into the cook book publishing business...

I finished my flying career with a total of logged in 22,000 hours. Considering an average speed of 400 miles an hour, makes this into 8.8 million miles, or 9 million in round numbers. Never mind that a lot of these miles were flown between Utica and Ogdensburg (both in NY).
